The political group Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) has voiced its backing for the claims made by the staff of Radio Televisión Canaria (RTVC). The organization emphasizes the urgent need to eliminate precarious labor conditions, which stem from years of audiovisual service privatization.
IxLG highlights issues such as excessive temporary contracts, seasonality, and low wages, deeming proper human resource planning essential. Consequently, they advocate for the necessary selection processes to ensure staff stability and the full recognition of their labor rights.
Iniciativa por La Gomera believes that only through these measures can a quality public service be guaranteed, fostering social and cultural cohesion across the territory.
Councilwoman Luz Marina Medina Martín voted in favor of the plenary agreement at the Ayuntamiento de San Sebastián de La Gomera, stating that RTVC has an unfulfilled obligation to the island. She specifically denounced the lack of political pluralism, asserting that Iniciativa por La Gomera has faced censorship in the news coverage of island politics, despite being the third political force in the Cabildo and holding representation in three town councils.
