The island aims to establish new alliances with companies, platforms, media outlets, and specialized travel content creators. The insular Minister of Tourism, Commerce, and Consumption, María Isabel Méndez, highlighted that the presence at WTM allows showcasing the work done to consolidate a unique tourism model, respectful of the territory and offering differentiated, quality experiences.
Méndez emphasized that La Gomera arrives in London with a defined roadmap focusing on nature, identity, sustainability, and destination quality, as well as the well-being of its residents. This approach is part of the Sustainability Tourism Strategy 2030 and the 'La Gomera, Circular Island' Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination.
The Plan has driven initiatives such as improving the Insular Network of Trails, the La Gomera Trails app, digitalization of tourism resources, environmental awareness, and circular economy. Participation in WTM will also serve to internationally promote six new tourism products created to diversify the offering, including ecotourism, hiking, cycling tourism, coastal tourism, rural tourism, and cultural and ethnographic tourism.
During the fair, the La Gomera delegation, led by the minister, will engage in an intensive schedule of professional meetings to explore collaborations and enhance the island's international visibility. These include meetings with Booking.com and National Geographic Traveller, as well as content creators such as María Spyrou, Aidy Smith, and Amy Hulley.
The agenda also includes meetings with Le Petit Futé, the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, and Promotur within the RegNext program, in addition to communication actions and media interviews.
