The activity, organized through the ‘La Gomera Acompaña’ program, aims to promote coexistence, active participation, and the exchange of experiences among the municipality's seniors. It will take place in the Plaza de Vallehermoso from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, recalled that the initiative promotes social participation, combats isolation, and creates spaces for knowledge and experience for older adults.
The mayor of Vallehermoso, Emiliano Coello, highlighted the importance of these actions in valuing seniors as guardians of local memory and identity, strengthening intergenerational bonds.
Coello also emphasized institutional collaboration to promote active aging and social participation, offering proposals that foster community through traditions.
The insular councilor for Social Policy, Rosa Elena García, noted that the event invites participants to remember, play, and create together, valuing memory, popular culture, and shared experiences.
The program will begin with traditional games such as cards, board games, and riddles, fostering a relaxed atmosphere of participation.
It will continue with ‘Pasapalabra Canario’, an adaptation of the well-known television format focused on the culture of Canary Islands and La Gomera, covering popular expressions, gastronomy, and traditions.
The event will conclude with ‘Our Vallehermoso: Who Remembers!’, a collective activity to recover memories of the municipality, culminating in a mural of historical testimonies.
