The Department of Finance and Relations with the European Union of the Government of the Canary Islands has established that the extraordinary and temporary subsidy on the price of certain petroleum-derived fuels will be 20 cents per liter for the islands of La Palma, El Hierro, and La Gomera during the months of October, November, and December.
As stated by counselor Asián, this measure, included in the Autonomous Community Budgets for 2026, is reviewed quarterly to adapt the aid to the evolution of fuel cost overruns.
The calculation of the amount and the activation of the subsidy for this period took into account the price differential of fuel in the non-capital islands compared to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, recorded between July 1 and September 15.
The subsidy is activated if the price of 95 octane gasoline or diesel A in a non-capital island is equal to or higher by five cents per liter than the average price recorded in the capital islands. This extraordinary aid can range between five and 30 cents per liter, depending on the price differential in the reference period.
