Agents from the Traffic Group of the Guardia Civil, belonging to the Arrecife detachment, have initiated proceedings against a driver for an alleged crime against road safety. The incident occurred in August when a speed control was established on the road connecting Femés with Playa Blanca, within the municipality of Yaiza.
During the control, officers detected a car traveling significantly above the established speed limit. The vehicle was recorded at 148 kilometers per hour in a section where the maximum allowed was 60 km/h.
Due to this excessive speed, which surpassed the limit by more than 80 km/h on an interurban road, the driver was informed that he would be formally investigated for a crime against road safety.
The actions taken by the Guardia Civil have been forwarded to the Court of Instruction Number 3 in Arrecife for further processing.
