In the short film category, the festival presents an international and a national selection, as well as a specific showcase of Canarian works. The latter use the local setting as a starting point to explore universal issues through genres such as fiction, documentary, and experimentation.
As a new feature, this edition of FIC Gáldar debuts as a qualifying festival for the Fugaz Awards, adding to its status as a pre-selector for the Goya Awards. The event is organized by the Gáldar City Council, with the support of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
The jury responsible for evaluating the works will be composed of industry professionals, including actors and directors with recognized careers in film and television. Additionally, the public will be able to enjoy a thematic retrospective focused on the relationship between cinema and sports.
