The Plaza de Santiago in Gáldar hosted the XII Folkloric Festival “Gáldar Uniendo Orillas”, an event that highlighted Canarian tradition and the participation of new generations.

The Cultural Folk Group Berbique from Agaete, along with its dance group Acataifa, participated in the festival, offering a sample of traditional Canarian folklore. This gathering is part of the folklore week program for the 544th Fiestas Mayores de Santiago.
The A.F. Harimaguadas performed a varied repertoire that included the Hymn of the Canary Islands, Noche Pesquera, Malagueñas, Aires de Lima de La Gomera, Isa Parrandera, El Chotis de Fuerteventura, Folías, and Gáldar. The participation of the group's children, who accompanied pieces like Aires de Lima de La Gomera and El Chotis de Fuerteventura with their dances, underscored the collective's work in preserving and transmitting traditions.
The folklore week will continue with the Festival Fiestas de Santiago this Thursday, featuring A.F. Surco y Arado and the Murcian group El Limonar. On Friday, the traditional Noche de Folías will be held with the Agrupación Musical Facaracas, and the program will conclude on Saturday with the Romería Ofrenda to Señor Santiago de los Caballeros de Gáldar.
