The fair, part of the 544th Fiestas Mayores de Santiago, showcased animals from various parts of Gran Canaria, allowing residents and visitors to experience rural practices and customs. The day also featured the Gáldar Agricultural Market, offering local products like fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and honey.
The event, dedicated to the primary sector, included educational activities to introduce children and adults to farm work and livestock farming, featuring a traditional threshing demonstration. Public attendance was steady throughout the day, with animals, their caretakers, and informational displays sharing the space.
Following the exhibition, around twenty awards were presented to the best-valued specimens in various categories. The mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, and councilor Tine Martín, among other officials, participated in the award ceremony.
In the cattle category, Gregorio Bordón Castellano and Juan Francisco Díaz Dávila received multiple first prizes. Other recognitions went to Juan Francisco Acosta Arias, Saúl Medina Ponce, Rubén Alemán Medina, and Braulio González Rodríguez.
For mule and donkey categories, David Déniz Ruiz and Lucía Naranjo Herrera were awarded in mules, while Domingo Déniz Domínguez and Juana María Rubio Quintana received distinctions for donkeys.
Regarding sheep and goat livestock, Santiago Suárez González secured all four first prizes in sheep. In goats, Mario Quintana Sánchez, Manuel Ruíz Ramírez, and Santiago Castellano Cruz were the awardees.
The event was organized by the Department of Socioeconomic Development of the Gáldar City Council, led by Tine Martín, in collaboration with the Department of Primary Sector of the Gran Canaria Island Council.
