The Gáldar City Council has launched two exclusive charging points for electric taxis in the Las Guayarminas area, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable mobility within the taxi sector.

The facility, located next to the taxi stand and near the intersection with Martinón León, was visited by the mayor and other municipal representatives, along with members of the taxi sector, to oversee its commissioning.
The project involved an investment of over 66,870 euros. A significant portion of this funding, specifically 53,498.51 euros, comes from the European Next Generation EU funds, as part of the program for the deployment of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in the taxi sector. The local council contributed over 13,370 euros from its own funds.
The new chargers are Vega Chargers Aloha Gravity units, equipped with CCS 2 connectors and a power output of up to 30 kW. These units are capable of providing up to 200 kilometers of range per hour of charging, thus facilitating the operation of electric taxis.
The mayor highlighted that, with this addition, Gáldar now boasts 14 charging points for electric vehicles distributed across various neighborhoods and car parks in the municipality. Furthermore, he announced that an additional 18 points are expected to be installed in the near future, reinforcing the local commitment to transport electrification.
