The event, organized by Turismo de Gran Canaria, the Mancomunidad del Norte, and the Ayuntamiento de Guía, with the collaboration of the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, will focus on artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of tourism, aligning with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) theme: ‘Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to redesign tourism’.
Between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the Plaza Grande in the historic center will be the stage where the eleven municipalities of the Commonwealth, along with Turismo de Gran Canaria, will present their tourism, cultural, gastronomic, and leisure offerings through various stands.
The Minister of Tourism for Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, highlighted that Guía will be a meeting point to “celebrate tourism and think about the tourism to come,” emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence as a transformative tool and the differentiating elements of the North, such as its landscape, gastronomy, and heritage.
For his part, the mayor of Guía and acting president of the Mancomunidad del Norte, Alfredo Gonçalves, stressed the opportunity to host the central event and the importance of showcasing the attractions of the region.
The day will include cheese and honey tastings, children's workshops on beekeeping led by the Verdejo Nature Classroom, and a digital scavenger hunt to explore the historic center of Guía in a fun way.
Additionally, the Cenobio de Valerón will offer a free guided tour and open house on Sunday the 27th. Previously, on Saturday the 26th, the Tourist Office will conduct a guided tour of the historic center and the Néstor Álamo Museum. The Casa del Queso (Cheese House) will also participate with cheese-making workshops on October 3rd.
The fair will conclude with a festive performance by the group Tacones Rojos starting at 1:00 PM on the Plaza Grande.
During the event, the Northern Gran Canaria Tourism Recognition Awards 2026 will be presented to companies and entities from the eleven municipalities. In the Leisure category, Club Deportivo Montaña Vergara (Santa María de Guía) and Heineken 5mentarios (Arucas) will be honored. For Accommodation, Casa Emblemática La Alameda (Moya) and Hotel Puerto de las Nieves (Agaete). In Restoration, Bar Restaurante El Cairete (Tejeda) and Restaurante Los Rubios (Valleseco). For Innovation, Jaramago (Artenara), Destilería Peligroso Pérez (Firgas), and Turiscan (Gáldar). And for Sustainability, La Tienda de Benjamín (Teror) and Api Turismo ‘El mundo apasionante de las abejas’ (La Aldea de San Nicolás).
