The Government of Canarias, through the Ministry of Health, has formalized the contract for the construction of the Corralejo II Dunas Health Center in La Oliva, Fuerteventura, with an investment of almost 10 million euros, with works expected to start in June.

The Ministry of Health of the Government of Canarias, through the General Directorate of Economic Resources of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), has formalized the contract for the construction of the Corralejo II Dunas Health Center. Located in the municipality of La Oliva, the total investment amounts to 9,924,754.45 euros, including IGIC.
This initiative, co-financed by the European Union through the FEDER Canarias 2021-2027 program, has an execution period of 23 months. Works are expected to begin next June, once the site verification act has been signed. The final award was resolved on April 1, and the contract was formalized on May 5.
The new building, with a constructed area of 3,500 square meters, will be distributed on a single floor to ensure accessibility. Its facilities will include family and community medicine consultations, nursing, pediatrics, emergencies, minor surgery, women's care and physiotherapy, oral health, conventional radiology, as well as administrative and service areas.

"We said that the works would begin before summer, and today, with its award, we see that the planned deadlines are being met, with initiation scheduled for next June."

the president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura
The construction of this new health center responds to the significant demographic growth in the Basic Health Zone of La Oliva, which currently serves 27,450 individual health cards. This zone covers localities such as Corralejo, La Oliva, Lajares, El Cotillo, Caldereta, El Roque, Tindaya, Vallebrón, Villaverde, Majanicho, Parque Holandés, and Isla de Lobos.

"The joint work between the City Council, Cabildo, and Government allows us to clearly respond to population growth and, therefore, offer a quality health service for all residents of the municipality."

The Fuerteventura Health Area has indicated that the current Corralejo Health Center has reached its maximum capacity after expansions and renovations in recent years. The new infrastructure will strengthen healthcare in the north of the island and expand the municipality's care capacity. The tender for the works was approved in December 2025, following the project drafting phase initiated in 2024, and will be carried out on land previously ceded by the La Oliva City Council.
