A total of 1,249 students from 37 schools in Fuerteventura have participated in the Semana Azul (Blue Week) 2025-2026, a program by the Island Council that has brought nautical activities closer to the island's educational centers.

The initiative, organized by the Department of Sports of the Fuerteventura Island Council, took place between September 2025 and June 2026. Thanks to the decentralization of venues in Puerto del Rosario, Gran Tarajal, Morro Jable, and Corralejo, student participation from different municipalities was facilitated under conditions of proximity, safety, and accessibility.
The program included theoretical sessions at the educational centers themselves and practical introductory sessions to various nautical modalities. Students learned basic aspects of navigation, marine safety, boat handling, teamwork, and the importance of respecting the coastline and marine ecosystems.
The final day saw the participation of 35 students from CEO Antigua. The Councilor for Sports, Luis González, highlighted that the decentralization strategy allows for leveraging Fuerteventura's excellent natural conditions for practicing sea-related sports.
