The public entity Puertos Canarios has finalized the refurbishment works at the port of Corralejo, located in the municipality of La Oliva, in northeastern Fuerteventura. The total investment, excluding IGIC, amounts to 798,341.87 euros, aimed at optimizing the functionality, aesthetics, and service quality of this significant maritime facility.
The project's final reception was overseen by the director of Puertos Canarios, José Gilberto Moreno, accompanied by the mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, and representatives from the awarded company. The final state of the executed works across the entire facility was verified.
Among the most notable improvements is the complete renovation of the pedestrian walkway's pavement, spanning the entire walkable area from the port entrance to the quay. This intervention also included the installation and renewal of railings, enhancing safety and providing a more modern, well-maintained appearance.
The seawall has also been conditioned through cladding with alveolar panels, a technically significant intervention that strengthens its structural resistance and exterior appearance.
The modernization also features a new LED lighting system, offering greater energy efficiency, and the refurbishment of the passenger terminal and its shelters, areas experiencing high traffic. Furthermore, a 60-cubic-meter water tank has been installed to ensure supply and prevent shortages.
Other technical maintenance tasks, such as the replacement of bollards and the repair of sanitation manholes, are also part of the executed works to ensure the port's daily operational efficiency.
The port of Corralejo is recognized as one of the facilities with the highest passenger traffic within the Puertos Canarios network, serving as a strategic hub for mobility in the archipelago and a gateway for tourists, particularly connecting to Lanzarote.
According to Puertos Canarios, these enhancements address the need to maintain adequate conditions for users, professionals, and visitors, reinforcing the safety, operability, and image of this highly relevant facility within the regional network due to its substantial passenger flow.
