The Plaza de la Constitución in Vallehermoso will host the majority of the programming for the XXII Atlántico Sonoro Festival. This cultural event, part of the San Juan festivities declared of regional tourist interest, will offer a varied scenic and musical program at no cost to attendees.
Highlights include the scenic performance ‘Arahal’ by the Compañía Pieles, performances by the Orquesta Rokecán and El Piquete Típico Cubano. Additionally, workshops on Silbo Gomero, chácara, and tambor will be offered, along with a tribute to the Asociación de Mujeres Gara for their work.
The Vallehermoso City Council has reaffirmed its support for this cultural model that promotes Canarian identity and roots. At the official presentation, Mayor Emiliano Coello Cabrera and Culture Councilor Estrella del Carmen Morales Medina agreed with the Culture Minister of the La Gomera Island Council, Rosa Elena García Meneses, and the festival director, Carlos Prieto, on the event's importance for preserving intangible heritage.
The festival, produced by Cauproges, is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, the La Gomera Island Council, and the Vallehermoso City Council, in collaboration with other entities.
Since 2025, Vallehermoso has been the nerve center of Atlántico Sonoro, establishing itself as a stable festival committed to decentralization, rurality, cultural identity, diversity, and local development.
The opening day, Friday, May 26th, will begin at 8:30 PM with the award ceremony for the Asociación de Mujeres Gara, recognized for its work promoting equality and inclusion. Following this, at 9:00 PM, ‘Arahal’ will premiere, a multidisciplinary piece by Compañía Pieles that blends tradition and avant-garde.
On Saturday, May 27th, the morning will be dedicated to safeguarding intangible heritage with workshops on Silbo Gomero (11:00 AM), recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and on chácaras and tambor.
Saturday evening will feature Latin rhythms with El Piquete Típico Cubano (8:30 PM), led by Totó Noriega, followed by the return of the historic Orquesta Rokecán (10:00 PM), promising a celebration of tropical music and cumbia.
The festival will also include ephemeral art with a large-scale sculpture made from recycled wood by Luigi Stinga at the Mirador del Almendrillo. It will conclude on Sunday with the theatrical route ‘Hipótesis sobre el Edén’ by Burka Teatro in the town center of Vallehermoso (12:30 PM).
