The General Directorate of Economic Resources of the SCS has selected the company Citanias Obras y Servicios, S.L.U. to carry out this comprehensive transformation. The contractor's bid, amounting to €2,484,413.15 (excluding taxes), was one of two submitted by small and medium-sized enterprises.
The project includes the reorganization of the existing building and the construction of a new complementary facility to create a single care unit, adapted to the demands of the population in this area of Lanzarote. It will be divided into functional areas for general care, pediatrics, adults, a multipurpose area, and emergencies, while maintaining current access points.
A key challenge will be executing the works without interrupting the health center's operations. The project's documentation highlights the complexity of maintaining active healthcare services during the renovation, which also influenced the decision to contract the work as a single lot to prevent coordination issues and risks.
Initiated based on a proposal from the Infrastructure Service on May 15, 2026, the project aims to provide Costa Teguise with a renovated and expanded health center, prepared for the continuity of healthcare services.
The need for this expansion dates back to 2022, just three years after the center's inauguration. At that time, pressure on the facilities was already evident, with 7,614 health cards assigned (5,799 for Family Medicine and 1,815 for Pediatrics). The initial plan included more consultation rooms, a physiotherapy unit, and an auditorium.
