The award ceremony, held at the Gran Canaria Island Council's Experimental Agricultural Farm, brought together representatives from the island's primary sector. In the amateur beekeepers category, Francisco Díaz Díaz received recognition in the light honey category. Other awarded beekeepers in different categories included Plácido García Molina (amber), Alexis Monzón López (dark), Iraida de las Nieves Díaz Díaz (hortelanilla), and José Antonio Rodríguez Socorro (pitera).
The mayor and councilor for the Primary Sector, Pedro Suárez, extended his congratulations to the beekeeper, emphasizing that “this recognition is a source of pride for the entire municipality because it certifies the work, dedication, and knowledge of our producers.” He highlighted the importance of continuing to support and promote the primary sector, which is integral to the local identity and economy.
The City Council reiterates its congratulations to Francisco Díaz ‘Paquito’ and acknowledges the efforts of all the men and women in the municipality who keep the primary sector's activities alive and contribute to preserving and improving the quality of local products.
