The Pájara City Council has celebrated the tender for the first Day Care Center for Dependent Elderly in Costa Calma, a key project with an investment of 5,181,048 euros from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.

The facility, to be located on a municipal plot ceded in the Cañada del Río area, will provide 30 socio-sanitary places for dependent elderly individuals from Pájara and the southern part of Fuerteventura. The estimated construction period is 16 months.
Representatives from the Pájara City Council's Governing Group, including mayor Alejandro Jorge, public works councilor Alexis Alonso, social services councilor Kathaisa Rodríguez, and third-age councilor Raquel Acosta, have highlighted the project's historical significance in addressing the needs of the elderly and their families.
The collaboration between the City Council and the Cabildo of Fuerteventura has been emphasized, with gratitude expressed towards the Cabildo's president, Lola García, and the Minister of Social Action, Víctor Alonso, for advancing this priority infrastructure.
The new Day Care Center will feature spaces for occupational therapy, health and social care, multipurpose rooms, and family support areas. It will offer services including catering, personal care, promotion of personal autonomy, and transportation, among other benefits.
The construction of the center aims to expand care resources for dependent elderly individuals in the south of the island, providing close and specialized support to both users and their families.
The deadline for submitting bids for the tender will be open from September 3 to September 29, 2026, until 12:00 PM. Full documentation can be consulted on the Contractor's Profile of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
