The municipality of Pájara, in Fuerteventura, will host the technical conferences AOVE `Connecting Territories’ next Friday, September 25. This event aims to bring together professionals and representatives from the olive oil sector in Canarias and Andalusia to share experiences and analyze the challenges and opportunities of extra virgin olive oil.
The Councilor for the Primary Sector, José Díaz, highlighted the importance of creating dialogue spaces that allow for “sharing knowledge, learning from other experiences, and continuing to promote the olive oil sector in Pájara and Fuerteventura”. For his part, the mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge, noted that “these types of initiatives contribute to strengthening ties between territories and highlighting the opportunities offered by the primary sector, fostering collaboration and the exchange of experiences”.
The activity will begin at 10:00 AM in the Consistory's plenary hall. Following the welcome by the authorities, a round table will be held to address key aspects of extra virgin olive oil production, from olive cultivation and mill processing to technological innovation, oleotourism, and commercialization strategies.
It will feature the participation of José Manuel Bajo Prados, general secretary of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Baena; Armando Melián, president of Olivafuer; Macarena Sánchez del Águila, manager of the Business Association of Industrial Mills of Córdoba; and Tanaira Rodríguez, mill technician at Olivafuer. The panel will be moderated by Clemente González Lorenzo, presenter of the program ‘Campo y Mar’ on Radio Canaria (RTVC).
At 12:00 PM, a second part of the round table will take place, and at 1:00 PM, José Manuel Bajo Prados will conduct an extra virgin olive oil tasting. The conferences will conclude with a cocktail accompanied by tapas made with extra virgin olive oil from Olivafuer associates and the D.O. Baena.
The conferences are organized by the Pájara City Council, through the Department of the Primary Sector, and are supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of Canarias and the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
