The rehabilitation works on the Manitaga Fountain, in the municipality of Tuineje, are in their final stage, according to the Cabildo of Fuerteventura. The tasks are expected to continue for several more weeks to fully restore this historic site.
Given the growing interest from residents and tourists in the project, the island council's Works and Machinery Service requests public cooperation. They ask for "patience" and that visits do not hinder the work being carried out by the crews in the area.

The primary objective of this intervention is to recover and enhance the value of the Manitaga Fountain and its surroundings, a place intrinsically linked to the agricultural, hydraulic, and ethnographic landscape of Tuineje and all of Fuerteventura island. This site is considered a benchmark for traditional water culture in the region.
The current works complement previous actions undertaken as part of the ‘Fuerteventura, beautiful by nature’ program. The initiative is driven by the council's Works and Machinery Service, with support from Gesplan (Territorial and Environmental Management and Planning), and involves the participation of the Insular Water Council of Fuerteventura.
The efforts are focused on various elements, including the restoration of the dry stone walls that still stand. Additionally, the path is being adapted to improve accessibility, seeking a balance between modernization and the preservation of the landscape's traditional features.
A significant part of the work centers on the fountain itself. Operators are removing accumulated sediment and materials, which has allowed the natural spring from the mountain to flow again. This resurgence of water has sparked considerable interest among the inhabitants of Tuineje, who have visited the area in recent weeks.
The Manitaga Fountain represents more than just its historical and functional value; it is an essential component of the collective memory of Tuineje and Fuerteventura.
