The works, which will be carried out in phases, will start with the installation of underground ducting and will progress successively, involving temporary traffic and parking restrictions on the street.
This intervention is part of a larger contract awarded to El Silbo Construcciones y Obras S.L., which also includes improvements to La Puntilla alley, for a total combined amount of 502,818.34 euros (including IGIC). Both projects are financed through the Island Plan for Cooperation on Municipal Works and Services (PICOS) 2026-2027, with the collaboration of the Cabildo de La Gomera and the City Council itself.
The project includes the replacement of existing lighting with new low-consumption LED luminaires, the implementation of an energy regulation system, and the execution of independent electrical ducting. Furthermore, the affected section will be repaved, improving the surface and adapting manholes and inspection chambers.

Mayor Borja Barroso also highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Cabildo de La Gomera through PICOS to continue improving municipal infrastructure in the various areas of Valle Gran Rey.
To facilitate execution, a municipal ordinance has been issued establishing temporary traffic closures and the reservation of parking spaces in sections. The awarded company must adequately signpost work areas and ensure safe pedestrian access to adjacent homes and buildings, as well as access for public or private service providers. Parking will be prohibited on Chelé street from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on Fridays from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Parking will be permitted outside these hours. Vehicles obstructing the works will be towed.
