The construction of the new annex building to the Church of Santa Lucía in Santa Lucía de Tirajana has reached a key point with the completion of its structure, after overcoming a complex deep foundation phase.

The rehabilitation works of the Church of Santa Lucía are progressing as scheduled, having completed one of the most challenging stages: the consolidation of the subsoil and the integral reinforcement of the temple's foundation. This intervention was crucial due to the structural risk posed by ground subsidence.
The foundation phase, which included the installation of dozens of micropiles up to 14 meters deep and the execution of pile caps to secure the original structure, was completed between late January and early February. This process has allowed the historical complex of the church to be stabilized.
In parallel, a new semi-basement has been constructed, which not only expands the parish facilities but also serves a vital structural function as a containment and reinforcement element for the entire property. Following this stage, attention has shifted to the construction of the annex, whose structure is now finished, reaching its definitive volume.

"It's a phase where progress is not as visible because much of the work remains hidden within walls and floors."

Currently, the work enters a less visible phase from the exterior, focusing on internal tasks such as masonry, interior partitioning, and electrical, hydraulic, and telecommunications installations. Despite the complexity and some occasional delays due to Holy Week and bad weather, the work continues without incidents.
The rehabilitation, which began in October 2025 with an investment close to one million euros, is funded by the Diocese of Canarias, the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council, and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. The project arose to address the structural deterioration of the building, which had been experiencing problems for decades. The new three-story building will replace the old parish halls, offering spaces for storage, Caritas, catechesis, and community use.
