The Mancomunidad del Sureste de Gran Canaria has announced the upcoming joint celebration of the 40th Km.0 Agro-food Fair and the 10th Sun Fair. These events will take place at the Plaza de la Candelaria in Ingenio on September 26 and 27, 2026. The fairs, running from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, underscore the Mancomunidad's commitment to sustainability and environmental protection by showcasing local products and activities related to renewable energy and innovation.
The presentation event was attended by key institutional figures: Óscar Hernández, president of the Mancomunidad and mayor of Agüimes; Vanesa Martín, second vice-president and mayor of Ingenio; and Julio Ojeda, first deputy mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana. The event detailed the participation of over 45 local producers, alongside 6 companies from the renewable energy sector and 6 automotive companies.
Óscar Hernández emphasized that both initiatives strengthen the region's connection with sustainable development, support for agriculture and livestock, and the preservation of traditional landscapes. Meanwhile, Vanesa Martín reaffirmed the collaboration between the island's primary sector, innovative entities, and public institutions, highlighting the importance of supporting both the agri-food sector and renewable energy and sustainable transport to maintain the Mancomunidad's identity.
Julio Ojeda expressed Santa Lucía de Tirajana's support for initiatives that bring the opportunities of renewable energy closer to citizens and highlight the work of local producers. He noted that the Km.0 Fair and the Sun Fair are clear examples of how to combine the promotion of local products with a more sustainable energy model.
The Km 0 Gran Canaria Agro-food Fair returns to the Southeast to directly connect consumers with island producers. Farmers, ranchers, bakers, and agri-food companies will exhibit the richness of local products. With 45 producers across 25 categories, attendees can find fruits, vegetables, cheeses, honey, wines, bread, pastries, oil, olives, coffee, beer, salt, jams, pasta, flowers, plants, and sweet cane juice. This fair promotes a proximity economy that contributes to the territory's vitality.
The Sun Fair, held concurrently, will bring together local products and solutions for a more sustainable energy model in one space. Renewable energy companies and sustainable transport firms will present their latest proposals and innovations.
