Missionaries and users of the center shared a morning of games, music, conversation, and affection in the Town of Ingenio. The «A Corazón Abierto» experience made a stop at the Day Care Center for the Elderly, where a group of missionaries and lay people from different countries interacted with the center's users in a day filled with games, music, workshops, and conversation.
This activity, promoted by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell, takes place in Ingenio from July 3 to July 8. Its purpose is to engage with the social reality of the municipality, live among the community, and collaborate on various social and pastoral projects. The group prepared a program of participatory dynamics that was enthusiastically received, fostering interaction, cognitive stimulation, and the exchange of experiences and affection.
The day included presentations, dances, and songs. Throughout the morning, various activities were held, such as the 'mirror dynamic,' an image and sound bingo, a giant beach ball game, a concert using everyday objects, and a handkerchief orchestra. These activities were designed to stimulate memory, coordination, and social interaction through music, sensory activities, and cooperative games.
One of the most special moments occurred when participants had close conversations with the elderly individuals, dedicating time to listen to their stories, exchange experiences, and strengthen the human bonds that are the essence of this initiative.
The encounter concluded with a reflection on love and an emotional circle of gratitude, thanking everyone for their participation and the affection received during the day. The «A Corazón Abierto» experience thus fulfilled its objective of building bridges between people, promoting active listening, and fostering commitment to the community through small gestures capable of generating a significant emotional impact.
