This marks the third time the Canine Society of Las Palmas has chosen Santa Lucía de Tirajana as the venue for this event. The society's president, Jacinto Martel, highlighted that "this municipality is a benchmark in the Canary Islands for animal welfare policies, and it is due to the council's commitment that we are holding the exhibitions here again."
The exhibition, originally planned for March, had to be postponed due to storm Therese. The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, accompanied by the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Mario Bordón, and the president of the Canine Society of Las Palmas, Jacinto Martín, presented the new edition. The mayor expressed gratitude for the city being chosen as the venue, recognizing the municipality's "good animal welfare policy" and "great capacity for organizing international events."
Councilor Mario Bordón emphasized the importance of animal welfare as a public policy and recalled that this edition will also feature an adoption parade for pets from the municipal Animal Protection Center.
Jacinto Martín, president of the Canine Society of Las Palmas, thanked the City Council for its willingness to host the exhibition, especially after the effort made to reschedule it this year. He noted that the Vecindario event is one of the four mandatory stops in Spain for the national championship.
Animals from various autonomous communities and European countries are registered for the event. Activities will commence at 9 a.m. and will include the presentation of native Canarian breeds.
