The Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council has awarded a cleaning contract worth 8.5 million euros, which will extend for three years and benefit approximately 90 workers.

The council has launched a new cleaning service for educational centers, sports facilities, cultural spaces, and municipal public buildings. The contract, exceeding 8.5 million euros for the next three years, stands as one of the most significant service contracts of the current term.
ISS Facility Services S.A. will be responsible for the service after winning the public tender. The contract amounts to 8,501,805 euros, representing a saving of over 708,000 euros compared to the initial bidding budget. It also includes two annual extensions, potentially raising its total estimated value to 16.58 million euros over five years.
The new contractor has ensured the maintenance of employment and labor conditions for the workers through the subrogation process. A total of around 90 employees will be tasked with cleaning over 84,250 square meters of public facilities spread across the municipality.
The service covers public schools, libraries, cultural centers, sports facilities, senior centers, social centers, health centers, and municipal offices. More than 126,900 working hours annually are projected, including coordination and supervision staff.

"We are facing one of the most important contracts launched during this term, both for its economic dimension and for the number of people involved in its execution."

Francisco García · Mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana
Mayor Francisco García described the initiative as a priority and highlighted the unification of services and the job stability provided by staff subrogation. He emphasized the importance of the professionals' work in ensuring the adequate use and safety of municipal facilities.

"Most of them were already performing these functions in the previous companies, which facilitates continuity and quality of service."

Miguel Maté · Manager of ISS Facility Services in the Canary Islands
For his part, Miguel Maté, manager of ISS Facility Services in the Canary Islands, expressed the company's satisfaction and noted the experience of the incorporated staff. The new contract incorporates advanced cleaning systems, specific disinfection protocols, continuous quality controls, environmentally friendly products, and digital monitoring tools, along with two electric vehicles to enhance efficient and sustainable public service management.
