The Avenida de Canarias was transformed this Saturday into a road safety circuit, where children could ride bicycles and pedal cars, accompanied by the local police.
The talks held in educational centers aim to inform secondary school students in the municipality about the new national traffic regulations. Key updates include enhanced cyclist protection, establishing a minimum distance of 5 meters when following a bicycle in certain situations, and allowing cyclists to overtake vehicles on either side during traffic congestion.
Furthermore, it is specified that to ride an electric scooter, individuals must be at least 15 years old and wear a helmet, especially at night or in low visibility conditions. Another notable rule is the creation of a central corridor for emergency vehicles when traffic is very slow or stopped on the highway.
