The political group Partido Popular - Asociación de Vecinos de Santa Lucía de Tirajana has publicly denounced the loss of significant financial aid for the municipality. According to their statement, the City Council has forfeited a 175,000 euro subsidy, granted by the Cabildo, which was intended for the “Santa Lucía de Tirajana Avanza” program within the Strategic Plan for Subsidies of the Department of Employment and Local Development.
Additionally, the Historical Heritage department has initiated a procedure to reclaim 15,000 euros. This amount was allocated to the “Shepherding Interpretation Center” project for the 2024 fiscal year, and the reimbursement is due to the inadequate justification of the expenses incurred.
The political group does not understand how aid that should have translated into opportunities, local development, and improvements for residents has been renounced, and they point to the mayor, Francisco García, as the maximum political responsible for this situation.
