The contracts, exceeding 355,000 euros, will enable interventions in various areas of the archaeological site. The most substantial project, budgeted at 198,394.05 euros and funded by the Cabildo, will focus on the archaeological intervention for the adaptation and expansion of the visitor area on the western slope of La Fortaleza Grande. The work, spanning one year, will include excavations, restoration, structural consolidation, and heritage dissemination efforts, with a particular focus on the vicinity of the so-called house of Rosa Schlueter.
A second intervention, fully financed by the Government of the Canary Islands for 118,395 euros, will address the adaptation of the unique cave-tunnel at La Fortaleza Grande. This space, approximately 40 meters long, preserves significant aboriginal architectural remains and has never undergone comprehensive intervention. The project aims to remove contemporary elements, conduct archaeological surveys, consolidate structures, and restore its original configuration, while also incorporating rest areas.
The third initiative, also funded by the Government of the Canary Islands, is divided into three lots. Lot 1 (30,595.58 euros) includes improvements to the museum and the archaeological route with new multilingual interpretive panels, signage, welcome banners, and an educational model of the site, as well as devices for virtual guided tours. Lot 2 (5,033.25 euros) will focus on the 3D virtual recreation of the ancient aboriginal house of Rosa Schlueter, and Lot 3 (3,531 euros) will cover the drafting of the technical, archaeological, environmental, and management reports required to officially apply for La Fortaleza's declaration as an archaeological park.
