The Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jéssica de León, and the CEO of Gesprotur, Ignacio Solana, have visited the improvement works at the Museum of Water and Sugar and the rehabilitation of the Casa de El Cuarto, projects aimed at recovering and preserving the historical heritage of the Villa de Ingenio.
The works include the expansion of the Museum of Water and Sugar with the incorporation of the Casa de Matos as an adjacent space, as well as improvements to access and the provision of new restrooms. The total investment amounts to €422,747.83.
Minister Jéssica de León highlighted the importance of preserving heritage as part of the identity and collective memory of the Canary Islands, emphasizing that these actions protect history and traditions for future generations.
For her part, the mayor of Ingenio, Vanesa Belén Martín, thanked the funding and explained that the initiative aims to expand the network of museums, protect local culture, and attract more visitors to experience the heritage firsthand.
The rehabilitation of the Casa de El Cuarto, with an allocation of €188,503.92, will focus on improving the structural safety, habitability, facilities, and accessibility of the building. The Museum of Water and Sugar and the Casa de Matos have an investment of €234,243.91.
During the visit, a meeting was held at the Ingenio Town Hall between representatives of the Canary Islands Government and municipal authorities to discuss other matters related to the improvement of the municipality's tourism resources.
