The Ministry of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Housing Institute (ICAVI), has commenced the administrative contracting process for the construction of 21 public promotion protected housing units and a similar number of garage spaces in Casa Pastores, located in the Gran Canarian municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
This project, to be developed at Calle Pi y Margall, number 13, in the Casa Pastores neighborhood, has an estimated value of 4,649,717.31 euros. It is part of a broader initiative to build a total of 126 public promotion protected housing units across three municipalities in Gran Canaria, with 29 of them to be located in Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
The new homes are part of Program 6, which supports the construction of social rental housing in energy-efficient buildings under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. This program is financed by the European Union through Next Generation EU funds, aiming to increase the public stock of energy-efficient housing for social or affordable rent.
The contracting process will follow an urgent procedure, driven by the need to meet deadlines for actions funded by European funds and to address the proven demand for public rental housing.
The 21 housing units in Casa Pastores are part of a global project encompassing 126 public promotion protected housing units on the island of Gran Canaria. In addition to the project in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, there are eight more units on Calle Severo Ochoa in the same municipality, 45 units to be built in Santa María de Guía, and two developments of 26 units each in Gáldar.
The estimated value for the combined contract for these 126 housing units amounts to 26,258,717.45 euros (excluding IGIC). Funding is provided by the Canarian Housing Institute, the Consortium of Housing of Gran Canaria, and Spanish Government PRTR funds.
