The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts for this Friday, June 12, a situation of cloudiness in the low-lying areas of the northern islands, below 500-700 meters. This will be the general condition as the pontiff begins his day, before the clouds give way to clearer skies during the central hours of the day. In the rest of the archipelago, skies will be mostly little cloudy or clear.
In the interior of the larger islands, some weak and scattered precipitation is not ruled out during the early afternoon hours. Temperatures will show little change or a slight increase on the coasts. However, in the interior of the larger islands, the rise could be moderate, with forecasts of reaching 30 ºC in the southeast of Fuerteventura and between 30 and 32 ºC in the midlands and southern-facing slopes of Gran Canaria.
The wind will blow light to moderate from the north generally. On the southwest coasts, sea breezes will prevail, while on the peaks, the wind will be moderate from the southwest, with strong intervals at exposed high altitudes. In Tenerife, particularly on Teide, occasionally very strong gusts are probable.
The visit of Pope Leo XIV, which will extend through this Friday the 12th, will take place under these meteorological conditions, according to the official program published by the Holy See.
