The State Meteorological Agency has issued an orange alert in Canary Islands as temperatures are expected to reach 39 degrees in several parts of the archipelago.

The heat episode, which will intensify throughout the week, will most significantly affect Gran Canaria. In the mid-altitude and high areas facing the south, east, and west of the island, thermometers will reach levels close to 39 degrees.
Haze at high altitudes will accompany this thermal rise, which will also be felt in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, where maximums between 37 and 39 degrees are expected. In the rest of the islands, temperatures will range between 34 and 36 degrees in inland areas.
Nights will also record high values. In the most affected areas, minimum temperatures will remain above 25 degrees, potentially reaching thresholds of up to 28 degrees in specific points of Gran Canaria.
