The municipality of Mogán will implement an innovative security device for the San Antonio “El Chico” Pilgrimage-Offering, scheduled for Saturday, June 6th. The initiative includes the deployment of strategic surveillance cameras and the use of two drones in flight, with the primary goal of enhancing route monitoring and real-time incident response capabilities.
Mayor Onalia Bueno highlighted that this measure is part of the municipal security plan for high-attendance events and is being considered as a pilot test. "The objective is to reinforce security and facilitate a faster response to any situation," stated the mayor, indicating the potential application of this technology in future celebrations.
The Drone Unit of the Mogán Local Police will operate two aerial devices throughout the day, thereby expanding surveillance capacity and improving service coordination along the pilgrimage route.
The acting head of the Local Police, Marcos Domínguez, explained that the system will be supervised from an advanced command post. This center will be equipped with screens connected to cameras located at key points such as Plaza Sarmiento y Coto, Parque Nicolás Quesada, and Calle San José. From this hub, the progress of the pilgrimage will be monitored, and operational responses will be activated immediately upon detection of any incident.
