Tinajo thus becomes the sixth municipality in Lanzarote to approve its accounts for the upcoming year, a process that will be definitively completed in June after the objections period. Meanwhile, Yaiza will bring its budgets to a plenary session this Friday, ensuring all seven councils on the island will have their accounts approved.
Tinajo's 2026 accounts include a global allocation of 14.23 million euros, surpassing the nearly 13 million from the previous fiscal year. Mayor Jesús Machín indicated that a balance between income and expenditure is anticipated, with nearly 2 million euros earmarked for infrastructure improvements and social programs.
Regarding Yaiza, the projected budget for 2026 reaches 33.7 million euros. As announced by Mayor Óscar Noda, these funds will be used to boost ongoing investments, such as the completion of the pavilion and swimming pools in Playa Blanca, and to cover the new waste collection contract. Additionally, 1,200 euros will be provided to each student studying off-island who meets the requirements.
Other municipalities in Lanzarote, such as Teguise (January), Haría and Tías (February), Arrecife (March), and San Bartolomé (April), had previously approved their 2026 budgets.
