The sports facilities, located between the towns of Yaiza and La Degollada, have obtained all necessary permits for occasional shooting events. These are conducted within periods authorized by the Government of the Canary Islands to avoid impacting local wildlife, particularly the Canarian hubara during its mating and nesting season.
The clay pigeon shooting competition, jointly organized by the City Council and the Club Punto de Mira, marks the debut of the southern polygon. Participants will face 25 challenges, with clay targets launched at approximately 50 kilometers per hour. Organizers plan to hold three more competitions by November, all within the authorized timeframe.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, alongside the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, and members of the Club Punto de Mira, highlighted the significance of this development for local enthusiasts and the effort invested in its establishment. Councilor Lago stressed the importance of complying with current regulations and verifying shooters' documentation.
Manuel Viñoly, an experienced shooter from the municipality, also acknowledged the value of having an operational shooting range after the necessary procedures were completed. The City Council has provided a spectator area with stands, reminding attendees that access to the exclusive shooting area is strictly delimited by fencing and prohibited.
