The alert applies to the islands of El Hierro, La Gomera, the western slope of La Palma, the peaks and midlands of the south and west-facing slopes of Tenerife, and in Gran Canaria above 400 meters in altitude. The rest of the islands of La Palma, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria are in a Pre-Alert Situation.
These measures are taken based on available information and in application of the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA). Unfavorable weather conditions for fire containment are expected, including high temperatures that could reach or exceed 34ºC in the midlands of the southern slopes of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and La Gomera, and 30ºC in inland areas of El Hierro and La Palma.
Furthermore, low relative humidity, below 30% in large areas of midlands and peaks, and the presence of calima (Saharan dust) are anticipated across all islands. These conditions increase fuel availability and the potential for fire spread. Continuous monitoring of the situation will be carried out.
