The El Fraile-Valle San Lorenzo Health Center, in collaboration with the Arona City Council, held the I Health and Seniors Day on October 16 at the El Fraile Senior Center, aiming to promote healthy lifestyle habits and self-care among the elderly.

The initiative, developed in the municipality of Arona, sought to foster the autonomy of older adults through a space for meeting, learning, and participation focused on health and well-being. Professionals from the El Fraile-Valle San Lorenzo Health Center, part of the Tenerife Primary Care Management, organized the event.
Throughout the day, various aspects of health in later life were addressed. The program included a talk on the proper use of medication, a participatory activity called Palía-Palabra led by the association No Somos de Segunda, a session on body image and self-care, content on oral health and care for older adults, and a practical physical activity workshop. The proposals aimed for a comprehensive approach to health.
This event is part of the community actions promoted by the Tenerife Primary Care Management, which aims to bring health promotion and disease prevention closer to everyday environments. The creation of the Functional Unit for Health Promotion and Community Health has strengthened this line of work, integrating strategies and coordinating teams across the island's different basic health zones.
The Tenerife Primary Care Management highlighted the work carried out, which in 2025 included over 2,000 health classroom sessions, 78 community actions, and twelve intersectoral tables. The commitment of the participating professionals and entities, who make it possible to bring health promotion to community spaces, was acknowledged.
