The aircraft, which was on the transatlantic route, had to urgently alter its trajectory. The passenger began to show symptoms compatible with a possible myocardial infarction while the plane was outside of Canarian airspace.
The crew requested an immediate diversion to the Tenerife airport, considered the most suitable facility for a priority landing. Air traffic controllers cleared the path and expedited the aircraft's arrival.
Airport emergency services coordinated immediate medical assistance on the tarmac. The plane successfully landed just over an hour after declaring the emergency, at which point island health teams took over the woman's care for stabilization and hospital transfer.
