CD Tenerife has confirmed the departure of Carlos Ruiz, who until now held the position of director of the club's youth academy.

The Granada-born professional, whose appointment was a surprise in November last year, has announced his departure to his colleagues during May. Club sources had previously reported a paternity leave, but the reality is that Ruiz is leaving his post.
According to consulted media, Carlos Ruiz's duties have long been handled by Monsi Brito, an internal club professional. Brito has been key in important departmental management, including communication with FC Barcelona regarding young player Jony Hernández and other significant operations.
Carlos Ruiz joined the club to succeed Sesé Rivero as head of the youth academy. However, the real weight in key decisions for this area never fully rested with Ruiz, who is now leaving the entity.
CD Tenerife's youth academy department has undergone various changes recently. During José Miguel Garrido's tenure as majority shareholder, the club backed Jony Vega, achieving successes such as the signing of Loïc Williams and the promotion of the reserve team to Segunda RFEF in 2024.
Subsequently, with the arrival of Rayco García and Ayoze García, a new philosophy was implemented, with Jony Vega leaving and Carlos Ruiz appointed as the main responsible party. Nevertheless, the squad composition was largely carried out by other professionals of the club.
The club plans to optimize the functioning of the youth academy, reduce unnecessary positions, and reform other areas, such as the medical department, to improve overall efficiency.
