The Tenerife Council has approved a grant of 1.2 million euros to fund the comprehensive rehabilitation of the old Franciscan Convent of the Holy Spirit, located in Icod de los Vinos.

This financial contribution, part of the 2023-2027 Island Historical Heritage Program and funded through the MEDI-FDCAN, aims to restore this 17th-century property for public use. The project has a total budget exceeding 2.2 million euros.
The island's aid will be distributed over three consecutive years during 2026, 2027, and 2028, with an allocation of 400,000 euros per year. This amount represents the maximum allowed by the program for municipalities with a population between 20,000 and 50,000 inhabitants.

"The recovery of our historical heritage is an investment in identity, culture, and the future. We are taking a decisive step to ensure its conservation and return this historical space to the citizens."

Rosa Dávila · President of the Tenerife Council
The technical intervention will be carried out under strict conservation criteria to preserve the building's historical values. With this renovation, the municipality of Icod de los Vinos aims to consolidate its position as a key cultural and tourist attraction in the northern part of the island.
