According to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) via the Labor Force Survey, this decline marks the third consecutive quarter of reduction in the region. This figure represents the lowest unemployment level for a second quarter since 2007.
Despite the drop in the number of unemployed, the report shows a decrease in employment, with 1,035,500 people working at the end of the period. The public sector experienced a greater contraction, losing 15,300 jobs, while the private sector saw a decrease of 9,700 positions.
Sectoral analysis shows mixed results: unemployment fell significantly in Construction and Agriculture, while increases were recorded in Industry and among those seeking their first job or who have been out of work for more than a year.
Regarding the labor market structure, 84.63% of employees have permanent contracts, compared to 15.37% with temporary arrangements. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate currently stands at 27.78% following an increase in the number of people under 25 without work over the last three months.
