The socialist party warns that the current model has "silently expelled young people, workers, and families" while breaking records in "propaganda and political promotion" of its president, Rosa Dávila. According to the PSOE, the government of Coalición Canaria and Partido Popular has prioritized "spectacle" over finding real solutions to the island's problems.
Rosa Dávila's promise to "end traffic jams in 90 days" is recalled, contrasting with the current situation where, according to the party, "citizens live worse, public services are more deteriorated, and access to housing has become unbearable".
The socialist spokesperson, Aarón Afonso, criticized the "obscene spending" of over 4 million euros on institutional advertising and political promotion this year, allocating "almost 11,000 euros daily for the president's self-promotion" while problems like "queues, housing issues, and waiting lists" persist.
One of the PSOE's key proposals seeks to enhance transparency and public control over institutional campaigns and the use of public resources in advertising. Under the slogan "Tenerife deserves more," the ten resolutions focus on crucial areas such as housing, mobility, equality, healthcare, socio-health management, territorial sustainability, and strengthening public services.
Specific measures include the creation of a public island housing company to promote the construction, acquisition, and rehabilitation of public housing, as well as limiting speculation and facilitating urban planning procedures. In mobility, they demand the acceleration of pending major infrastructures like the TF-5 and TF-1 BUS-VAO third lanes, the La Laguna Bypass, and the closure of the island ring road.
Other proposals include the implementation of a dedicated tourist tax to fund environmental conservation and public services, a permanent scientific and technical committee for health and humanitarian emergencies in Tenerife, strengthening equality policies and the fight against gender violence, promoting direct public management of socio-health centers, defending artisanal fishing, guaranteeing committed airport investments, and unlocking the comprehensive reform of the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium.
