UD Tamaraceite has secured its place in the final round of promotion to Segunda RFEF after a 1-1 draw against San Fernando in El Tablero, leveraging their 3-0 first-leg lead.
The team from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria successfully managed the advantage gained in the first leg, where they won 3-0 at Juan Guedes. In the return match played at the Eleuterio Valerón stadium in El Tablero, Tamaraceite drew one goal, a result sufficient to ensure their qualification.
San Fernando, coached by Juan Carlos Socorro, attempted a comeback with players like Edu Salle, Jeremi, and Ribalta from the start. However, the match was marked by tension and cautions, with several yellow cards for both teams and the expulsion of Dani López for San Fernando and Eros Delgado for Tamaraceite.
The goals came in the final stages of the match. Farías put Tamaraceite ahead in the 79th minute (0-1), further complicating San Fernando's comeback hopes. Despite this, Edu Salles, the league's top scorer, managed to equalize in the 96th minute (1-1), a goal that served only for local pride.
“
"This was a match to put on a work ethic, consciously. They had left four men up front and it was almost impossible they wouldn't create scoring chances in their attempt to come back. We felt it especially in the first half. But we knew what was at stake and we managed the game well."
“
"We knew we were risking everything, especially in the first half, but well, there were four shots against the post and one disallowed goal... We couldn't achieve it. We didn't let them play their game, but if they score four goals on aggregate... they are fair deserving of advancing."
With this result, Tamaraceite will face Guijuelo in the final round of promotion to Segunda RFEF. Guijuelo secured their spot despite losing the second leg against Palencia, with an aggregate score of 4-4.
