A player for CD Tenerife, who previously played for UD Las Palmas, is under arrest and will face trial for alleged violent robbery following an altercation last weekend in La Laguna.

The athlete, identified as Maikel Mesa, provided a statement to police commissariats on Wednesday and has been brought before the judicial authorities. The incident, involving two other individuals, occurred after a public altercation where an attempt was made to steal a man's mobile phone.
According to police sources, the event took place last weekend in La Laguna, Tenerife. The victim, who press reports suggest is a judge, was allegedly verbally abused and assaulted. The victim managed to record part of the incident with his phone, and it was also captured by a nearby security camera.
The National Police have indicated that a swift trial is anticipated due to the nature of the events and the existence of audiovisual evidence supporting the violent robbery charge.
The events date back to May 31st, when the Local Police of San Cristóbal de La Laguna received a report of an assault on three individuals in a public street. The victim stated that after being confronted and attacked, his mobile phone was taken when the assailants realized they were being recorded, and they subsequently fled in a vehicle.
Following the formal complaint filed by the victim, who also sought medical attention for his injuries, the police investigation successfully located the alleged involved parties and recovered the stolen mobile device. The case is proceeding towards a swift trial.
