The island of Tenerife is preparing to welcome Pope Leo XIV next Friday, June 12, for an event expected to draw thousands of faithful. Given the high anticipation and volume of information, a practical guide has been prepared to address common questions regarding his visit and the Mass he will preside over at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Registration for the Mass is still open, though early registration through parishes or the official website is recommended. The venue has a capacity of 32,000 people. The organization has begun assigning spots and will send confirmations with access instructions. The final distribution of tickets is expected to be completed before this Sunday. A free ticket with a QR code will be required for entry.
The liturgical ceremony will commence at 12:15 PM at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Attendees are advised to arrive at the port area before 11:15 AM due to security checks. The organization suggests allowing double the usual travel time.
Due to planned traffic disruptions on major roads such as the TF-5 and TF-1, using public transport is strongly recommended. Private vehicles will only be allowed access to the capital under specific conditions and restricted hours. Taxi stands in the event area will also be closed.
The tram service will operate with double units every 10 minutes, although Line 1 will have a modified route until 10:30 AM. The bus company Titsa will reinforce several bus routes and offer a special fare of one euro per trip to facilitate access. Bus users are advised to board before 7:30 AM.
The event is designed for all attendees, including the elderly, to follow the Mass while seated. A large team of volunteers will be available to provide assistance. Attendees are advised to bring water, comfortable clothing and footwear, sunscreen, a hat or cap, identification, and personal medication. Access with bulky items will not be permitted.
