The Enraizados cycle, an initiative by the CajaCanarias Foundation to promote local talent, continues tomorrow, Friday, September 11, with the participation of musician Hirahi Afonso and visual artist Héctor Mar. The event will take place at 7:00 PM at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Hirahi Afonso is recognized for his innovation in contemporary Canary Island music, blending the timple with genres such as jazz, flamenco, pop, and electronic music. Following the success of Memento (2020), he consolidated his proposal with Lo Puro (2023), which won awards at the 2024 Canary Music Awards. He has performed internationally, projecting a renewed vision of Canary Island musical tradition.
The event will be enriched by the contribution of Héctor Mar, a visual artist and winner of the 2024 CajaCanarias Manolo Millares Plastic Arts Award. His work focuses on contemporary pictorial research and the material possibilities of painting as a space for reflection and perceptual experience. A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of La Laguna and with a Master's from the University of the Basque Country, his artistic language dialogues with memory, geometry, urban space, and surface construction through superposition, texture, and fragmentation.
