The footballer, whose identity has become central to this event, along with two other individuals, has recently been sentenced for an incident that has caused considerable attention on the island. The victim, who is a judge by profession, recounted the events to Cope Tenerife microphones, detailing how the confrontation began.
According to the assaulted party's testimony, the dispute started with insults: "They called me bald, I turned around to ask for explanations, I told them 'look, what's up? Just that and they confronted me and started provoking me." The situation quickly escalated when, according to the victim, Maikel Mesa and one of his companions grabbed him by the jacket and pushed him against a wall, while a third person kicked him in the back.
The assault continued with a headbutt from Maikel Mesa and a punch to the face from another involved party. Afterwards, the aggressor who kicked him took his glasses and threw them on the ground. The victim expressed his bewilderment at the sequence of events, especially after revealing his profession.
The judge stated that, as there was no one else in the area around 10:00 PM, he decided to call 112 and follow the aggressors to a parking lot, taking photos of their car and noting the license plate to document the incident.
Once inside the parking lot, the victim attempted to prevent the car from leaving by placing his hands on the hood, while a parking lot attendant asked them not to leave. According to the testimony, Maikel Mesa, driving the car, accelerated, pushing the judge with the vehicle.
Security cameras in the parking lot recorded the entire incident, and these images are part of the judicial case. The victim indicated that, if made public, the recordings would help understand the "nature of the aggression" he suffered, stating that "inside the parking lot, there were really four people against me, with no possibility of defense on my part."
Furthermore, the victim claimed to have been subjected to a "chokehold" by the CD Tenerife player inside the parking lot, which has caused him persistent pain in his throat and nose, despite not feeling it at the time due to adrenaline.
