The University of La Laguna (ULL) has participated in the II Best Practices Conference on 'Internationalization at Home', an event that took place on July 9 and 10 at the University of Cadiz. These conferences were jointly organized by the University of Cadiz and the Sectorial Committee for Internationalization and Cooperation of CRUE Spanish Universities.
The meeting brought together 73 representatives from 37 Spanish universities with the main objective of exchanging experiences and analyzing new strategies to integrate the international dimension into daily university activities. The ULL's representation was led by the director of the Secretariat for Internationalization, Sara González, who presented one of the institution's developed experiences in 'internationalization at home'.
During the conferences, key challenges for higher education were addressed, including the incorporation of artificial intelligence in internationalization, the development of COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) projects, curriculum internationalization, teaching in English, multilingualism, European university alliances, and strategies to ensure the entire university community acquires international and intercultural competencies, regardless of physical mobility participation.
The participation of the University of La Laguna aligns with its commitment to promoting inclusive and transversal internationalization, aiming to extend international learning opportunities to all students and teaching, research, and administrative staff. This approach has been promoted by the ULL for years through initiatives such as curriculum internationalization and intercultural competence training.
The conferences have served to strengthen cooperation among Spanish universities and foster work networks that promote increasingly integrated internationalization in teaching, research, and university life. The ULL's presence at this forum underscores its dedication to the continuous improvement of its internationalization policies and the exchange of experiences to offer higher quality and internationally projected education.
