The Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism at the University of La Laguna held its Welcome Day on Monday, September 7, to officially receive more than 450 new students joining for the 2026-2027 academic year. The event, named “FEET Walking Tour”, featured upper-year students acting as guides and hosts.
The activity took place simultaneously at the Guajara Campus for students of Business Administration and Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance, and Tourism; and at the Sur Campus for the Tourism degree program taught in Adeje. At Guajara, the welcome included the dean, Inés Ruiz, and members of the dean's team. Participants received colored identification wristbands to divide them into small groups accompanied by guide pairs.
The new students toured key faculty areas such as the secretariat, concierge, University Employment Agency, and Student Delegation. They also visited academic and research facilities, including libraries, classrooms, computer labs, and the Business Simulation Center, as well as common areas like the Cultural Space, cafeteria, and communal zones.
During the tours, student guides encouraged their peers to actively integrate into the university community by joining the Faculty's official communication channel and participating in the Student Delegation. At 12:00 PM, a special session was held for mobility students from Erasmus, SICUE programs, and non-EU students, using the same interactive methodology. Students from countries like Italy, Bulgaria, Mexico, France, and Germany had the opportunity to make their first contact with Canary Islands students.
At the Sur Campus, a specific event was held for the Tourism degree students, with the participation of the Vice-Dean of Students and Employability, Tamara González, and the Vice-Dean of Academic Support and Infrastructure, Ángel Chinea. Representatives from the Adeje City Council, including councilors Adolfo Alonso and Patricia Paulsen, were also present. The session featured a motivational talk by Pablo Ojea, Commercial Director of Barceló Hotel Group in Tenerife, and a presentation by the University Employment Agency of FGULL on their resources for career support and placement.
This initiative aims to reinforce values such as peer mentoring, student collaboration, and close support from the first day.
