The Chair of Agrotourism and Wine Tourism of the Canary Islands, affiliated with the Canary Institute for Agri-food Quality and the University of La Laguna (ULL), will participate in a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative. This project will be carried out alongside other European universities, within the framework of the STARS EU alliance, and will focus on various aspects of law, innovation, and agricultural science applied to the wine sector.
This training initiative will connect students and faculty from different institutions and backgrounds through virtual environments. The aim is to foster shared learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the exchange of perspectives among students from various countries, without the need for travel.
The experience, which will take place during the months of October and November, will involve students from the University of La Laguna, the Hochschule Bremen-City University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and the Université Marie et Louis Pasteur in France.

Jesús Enrique de las Heras Roger, the Chair's director, highlighted the value of this methodology as a tool to incorporate an international dimension into education. The COIL methodology involves students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds working together on practical case studies, aiming to strengthen skills such as teamwork, intercultural communication, and analysis.
Participation in COIL is part of the Chair's strategy to promote spaces for international exchange and collaboration related to wine management and wine tourism. This line of work complements other initiatives the Chair is developing to foster knowledge transfer and create new learning opportunities.
The virtual experience will be followed by a physical mobility program planned for Tenerife in March 2027. Students from Germany and France who achieve the best results will have the opportunity to participate in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), transferring the learning developed in the virtual environment to a face-to-face context and strengthening collaboration among the participating STARS EU universities.
